How to find us

Dunoon is easily reached in just over an hour from Glasgow using the M8 motorway or train to Gourock, thence either by the frequent Western Ferries from McInroy’s Point OR by the hourly Caledonian-MacBrayne ferries direct to Dunoon Pier. The crossing takes about 20 minutes, and  Western Ferries operate a frequent service (with 2-4 sailings per hour) until 22:30, with a midnight sailing at weekends. The Cal-Mac ferries leave Gourock hourly at 20 minutes past each hour, with extra sailings at ‘rush-hour’! Discounted ferry tickets can be sent to customers on request in advance. Please let us know at the time of booking.

If approaching via Dunoon pier, turn right onto the Promenade and continue for about half a mile. Lyall Cliff is on the left, with a large white front wall.

If approaching via Hunter’s Quay (via Western Ferries), turn left onto the coastal road and drive on for just over a mile, passing through the village of Kirn, until finding Lyall Cliff on the right.

Alternatively, Dunoon can be reached overland by using the A82 Loch Lomond road, the spectacular A83 ‘Rest-and-be-Thankful’ pass, and the beautiful A815 Loch Fyne and Loch Eck road. In this case Lyall Cliff is most easily found by turning left in Sandbank and following the A815 coastal road along the southern shore of the Holy Loch. Lyall Cliff is situated on the promenade about half way between Kirn village and Dunoon.

Lyall Cliff has ample level private parking in the grounds, providing easy direct access to the buildings.

NOTE: The town centre of Dunoon is easily reached on foot in about 10 minutes, by turning right out of the car-park entrance; driving takes only a few minutes, and parking is straightforward.

Dunoon has a good shopping centre, with 2 supermarkets, food, clothes, sports, hardware & electrical shops as well as restaurants, coffee shops, takeaways, garages and a well equipped and friendly Tourist Information Centre.
